ABSTRACT

Bei Dao is one of the representative persons of the new period verse in the Chinese poetry tradition. In the content analysis, it is emphasized that the tragedy expression of his hero doctrine type states that at that time, people’s disaffection and exasperation towards society were deeply rooted within the hearts of the generation. Additionally, reflecting on the remnants of “The Cultural Revolution”, the reconstruction of a star sky for human nature indicates the life direction for those who were perplexed by the revolution. In terms of artistic style, his cold expression method covers the dark and cold tone in all of his poems while incorporating strange idea combinations to disrupt the stench and simplicity that had become obsolete at that time. This text focuses on analyzing the specific nature of Bei Dao’s poetry in order to discern his position within literary history.
