端午节是我们家庭的快乐时光,每年五月初五, family members gather together to share stories, eat粽子, and celebrate the spirit of traditions. Below is a brief introduction to this interesting holiday.
I remember when I was still a kid, every time it was my turn to do homework, everyone would raise their hands to say no. It was such a routine that made me feel bad about not doing all the work assigned. However, after I had read some stories from my family's old collection, I found myself enjoying the process.
The next day, when we got ready for school, I decided it was time to show off my skills. Mother and I carefully packed our backpacks with everything needed for school: paper towels, a pencil, an eraser, and an extra set of notebooks. After filling them up, we set out on our first adventure.
In the morning, after packing, mother and I got ready for school and spent some time discussing what we were going to do this year. We talked about how we wanted to make the most of each day. One of the things we decided to try was eating粽子.

Poisson节是我们社区里的传统节日,每年农历五月初五。 traditions are always a way for people to celebrate special occasions that have become part of their daily lives.
As I listened to my family's old collection, I realized that it wasn't just about telling stories. It was also about engaging in activities that would make us happy and spend more time together. After I had read a few good books from the collection, I found myself enjoying the process.
We decided on Sunday morning for our first activity: eating粽子. We took small pieces of bread to form a shape similar to the ancient Greek god Stylos. Each piece was then wrapped in a cloth and made into a "stick." After wrapping, we tied one end of each stick together so that it could be pulled out.
As the sticks began to move, we watched them float up into the air until they hit some small fish or other creatures we found along the way. Once all the fish were caught, we started pulling them out one by one and letting them rest on our hands before releasing them back into the water.
After eating the粽子 for about half an hour, I noticed that my stomach was growing a bit. But even though it wasn't filling up, it still gave me a sense of accomplishment.

Poisson day is also a big day for us because we have another activity planned: making and eating粽子. We had started the day by wrapping small pieces of bread into sticks, but I couldn’t believe how much work that had become.
After working with my mother for an hour, we finally got our first batch of dough. The process was a bit nerve-wracking because neither of us liked the smell of raw flour and salt, but it worked out in the end. We rolled up the dough until they formed into a nice shape, and then began shaping them into small balls.
Once all the dough pieces were shaped, we tied one end together so that it could be pulled apart to make our own little粽子. As we started pulling the strings, I felt a strange mix of happiness and a bit of sadness because I realized my hands had been working nonstop for over an hour.
After waiting about five minutes, the first bite of粽子 came out. It was so delicious! The smell combined with the taste made me feel better. But as time went on, I noticed that I wasn't doing any more work on the process, and it became a little frustrating.

The evening after we finished eating our first batch of粽子, my mother and I decided to try another activity: washing rice in the family rice pan. We carefully poured rice into the pan until it was full and began cooking it. It was a simple process at the time, but as I watched my mom pour out the rice, I realized that this could be one way to make food even better.
The next day, we tried to cook the same rice in another pan with an unknown ingredient added inside. After a couple of minutes, the rice began to boil and started releasing steam into the air. The moment it was full of water, it seemed almost impossible to put any more ingredients inside without making everything go bad.
After some struggling, we finally did it right. Inside the rice pan, instead of regular rice, we had a mixture of brown rice and white rice that was steeped for an hour before being poured into the boiling water. The steam started pouring out quickly but then began to accumulate as heat from the rice turned up, making the process both interesting and difficult.

As I watched the final batch of粽子 pieces pull apart, I couldn't help but laugh at my mother’s expression on her face. It was a small smile in the face of such hard work that took longer than expected to complete. I also felt a sense of pride and accomplishment as my hands had been working nonstop for over an hour.
After finishing our first meal together, we sat down with the rest of the family and started brainstorming some ideas about how to continue celebrating this day in the future. We talked about making more粽子 for the whole class or creating other activities like playing games at the family beach house. As time passed and we moved closer to the end of our day, we realized that each day could be better than just an ordinary holiday.
We were both exhausted by the end of the day when mother called us to bed early because she had a lot left to prepare for next Monday’s family meeting. But I felt good about how much I had accomplished in this year’s effort and also about the fun we had sharing stories, eating delicious foods, and figuring out how to make the most of our time together.
The next day, when we finished school early, my mom and I said goodbye to each other. We both looked up at each other, knowing that life was full of many surprises waiting just around the corner. But for now, it was a special day where we could share memories, eat delicious treats, and remember that traditions are always about giving more than you can even imagine.
